Paul Kautz
Paul and Kelly Kautz

Paul and Kelly have backpacked together over two centuries.

Paul has thru-hiked the Superior Hiking Trail (SHT), Arizona Trail (AZT), Ice Age Trail (IAT), Pacific Northwest Trail (PNT), West Coast Trail (WCT), Kekekabic Trail (Kek), and Border Route Trail (BRT).

Kelly has done the Kekekabic Trail (Kek), Border Route Trail (BRT), and West Coast Trail (WCT).

Camino de Costa Rica
Kelly and Paul Kautz on the Camino de Costa Rica

If you like bananas, coffee, pineapple, and sugar cane, this is an adventure for you!

Paul & Kelly hiked 170 miles across Costa Rica from the Caribbean Sea to the Pacific Ocean on the Camino de Costa Rica (caminodecostarica.org).

With lodging each night and a sag vehicle most days, this “supported” thru-hike is a new way to hike for us.

Join us for highlights, challenges, and logistics of the trek.

Sunday,  Apr. 30th, 11:00a.m.,  U of M – Hanson Hall, Room 1-102
