Alan Wenker
I am a lifelong outdoor enthusiast and enjoy backpacking, canoeing, bike touring, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, and winter camping.
I am also a NOLS graduate.
Hut to Hut Ski Touring North of the Arctic Circle in Sweden
In April 2022, my companions and I traveled north of the Arctic Circle in Sweden for a week long backcountry ski tour. At night we slept in huts managed by the Swedish Tourist Association. The huts provided a warm, dry, and cozy shelter for cooking, eating, and sleeping.
The use of the hut system allowed us to ski with very lightweight packs each day making the trip far easier and more relaxing than traditional winter ski touring and tent camping.
